 Job posting – Funeral Director, Business Partner 

Cooper Professional Funeral Service has been serving Yorkville area families for 5 years. We are honored to be a part of the rich history of this community and plan to be a part of it for many years to come.  Cooper Professional Funeral Service strives to provide genuine and quality service to the Kendall County community with compassion, empathy, and professionalism.  We will go above and beyond for families who require our services.  We believe in the power of a strong reputation, one that in a time of need, takes a huge burden off a grieving family. The "have your back" attitude that families do not always get to see, is vital to our success. Cooper Professional Funeral Service offers burial services, cremation services, and green burial services. We currently have an opening for a Funeral Director/Embalmer in the Yorkville area. The Funeral Director/Embalmer manages all phases of the funeral arrangement from setting up funeral services to the final disposition. The Funeral Director co-operates with client families, making all arrangements, handling all aspects of the service, and ensuring the client's family receives an impeccable experience that captures and shares the life of their loved one. 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Supports the company’s commitment by demonstrating the utmost professionalism and ethical behavior
  • Process and maintain At-Need and Pre-Need case files
  • Process files from start to finish, including filing flag forms, completing trust account forms, ordering Death Certificates, etc.
  • Release urns, service materials, personal property and flags to families
  • Transport remains from place of death to funeral home and to crematory
  • Embalm, dress, cosmetize, and casket remains
  • Respond to emails efficiently and timely
  • Place obituaries for families in the newspaper, social media, and website
  • Ensures proper paperwork, including permits and certificates, are completed timely
  • Conducts and attends funeral services regularly
  • Lead post-service follow-up as needed
  • Carries out additional projects/duties as assigned, i.e. car washing, building/equipment repair, pre-need arrangement planning  

Required Education and Technical Skills:

  • High School diploma or the equivalent
  • Valid state-issued Funeral Directors and Embalmers license (as per state licensing requirement)
  • Completed Mortuary School (Funeral Services A.A.S.)
  • A minimum of one (1) year experience in Customer Service
  • At least one (1) year of work experience– funeral industry preferred
  • Passare program knowledge preferred
  • Crematory Operations Certification preferred
  • Experience in making an initial transfer of decedent and funeral arrangements
  • Ability to do decedent care, i.e. embalming (per state requirements)
  • Strong organizational skills to include time management
  • Excellent oral communication skills including the ability to effectively communicate with internal, and external customers, community leaders, clergy and client families
  • Valid state-issued driver’s license in good standing and acceptable driving record
  • Proficient computer skills in MS Office– Outlook, Word, clocking in/out, etc.
